Aisha Tyler of ‘The Talk’ is getting a divorce after 22 years of marriage
According to Us Weekly on Friday, April 15, Aisha Tyler, co-host of “The Talk” is getting a divorce. Tyler married attorney Jeff Tietjens in 1994. The couple has been separated for more than a year since January 2015. Court documents show that Tietjens is the one who filed for divorce from Tyler.
Aisha Tyler’s rep confirmed the divorce after 22 years of marriage. TMZ reported that Tietjens filed divorce documents at Los Angeles Superior Court several weeks ago. Tietjens, who is an attorney himself, cited irreconcilable differences in his legal papers. At this time, Tietjens is not asking for spousal support, but he did indicate that he reserves the right to possibly request spousal support later.
Tietjens and Tyler were college sweethearts at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Even though they are divorcing they have promised to remain friends. Tyler co-stars alongside Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood on CBS’s “The Talk.”
Back in 2013, all the co-hosts participated in a segment on the show where they shared a secret. Tyler’s secret was that she was struggling with fertility issues. She and Tietjens have tried everything possible to have a baby, but a doctor said there wasn’t much hope. It is undetermined if that was factored into their decision to divorce.
Not only is Tyler a comedian and a daytime talk show co-host, she is also an actress and has had a recurring role on “Criminal Minds.” While hosting “The Talk” this season, the 45-year-old had given no indication that she and Tietjens were separated.
