Praying for a spouse that has left you can be the most trying time that you’ve even been through your entire life – and maybe the toughest you will ever go through. When a burden such as this is on us, it is easy sometimes for Satan to get the best of us while we are trying to be or to become for the first time the Godly spouse that God created us to be.
Don’t let your desire to have your spouse and family restored get so intense that you begin to lose focus on Jesus and His timing and His will. If you notice that you begin to get emotionally drained or extremely tired all day, then you know it is time to release your cares, because it is starting to weaken you. If you become weak, it just opens the door for Satan to enter your heart at the time God is trying to make you stronger.
Keep these pointers in mind…
Don’t give up! – Just give your situation completely to God.
Don’t give into anger – Satan will try to discourage you and make you angry at your spouse.
Don’t hate – Hatred stirs up strife. Continue to love your spouse with God’s love.
Grow in God – Jesus wants to use this time in your life to make you rely on Him.
Don’t let what you see affect you – You will probably notice your spouse, or those around or influencing your spouse to act differently than usual. Things tend to get worse before they get better – DO NOT let what you see in the natural get you down. Just remember, many times you can’t see what God is doing in the spiritual.
Spend time praying for others – Don’t just focus on your immediate problem. Also focus on others. While you are growing in God, your prayers for others are also powerful.
Praise & Worship Jesus – It’s hard many times to praise and worship our creator in trials and hard times. Satan HATES it when we can worship and actually thank God for the situation that we are in, because it makes us stronger.
Remember, you will be tempted to get angry at those involved with your situation, but before you respond and act with anger, release the situation to God, again. He will give you strength and peace. Don’t let the negative circumstances get you down. If you are praying, God is working. Just know that it IS HIS WILL for your marriage to be restored. Especially if your spouse is a Christian. He is working overtime to bring him/her back to God and back home.
