Marriage Life
Enriching marriages moment by moment
A New Chapter is being written in this Marriage Life story and I want to be able to share it with all of you.
It’s time.
It may be hard to hear.
It may not be what you’re expecting at all.
It may make you angry or sad. It may make you not want to come here and read any more.
All I can pray is that you read with an open mind and remember that I truly believe its better to be real than perfect. So I’m about to be real…
I came across this quote the other day:
“Fellowship (community, relationship)… is built on connecting at weakness instead of impressing with strength.” — Traylor Lovvorn
And it struck a chord with me. This is why I do what I do. This is why I started Marriage Life. This is why I share my story. This is why I’ll continue to share my story. Because at its very core, relationships and connections are made when people are REAL. No masks, no illusions of perfection. Allowing our story to give someone else the strength to realize that THEY ARE NOT ALONE.
Because isn’t that at the core of a lot of our problems? We go through a divorce, we get depressed, we get a cancer diagnosis, we have a family member come out…and we literally go into hiding. We think no one will understand what we’re going through. We believe that no one in the history of mankind has experienced what we’re experiencing and we don’t know where to turn!
When the truth is…so many people have probably experienced whatever we’re experiencing. If we could all just take a deep breath and drop all our pretenses, expectations and feelings of shame I think we’d come to realize the BEAUTY that comes from being real and sharing our stories. Connecting with others. Giving others a chance to see that they are not alone. And giving them the opportunity to be there for us and help us to see that WE are not alone!
